McHard Road Waterline Design from Business Drive to FM-865
The McHard Road 16-inch Water line is a key component of the City of Pearland’s long-term water system plan.
The City of Pearland (The City) retained GC Engineering, Inc. (GCE) to provide engineering design and construction services for a 6.5 mile long, 16-inch diameter waterline from SH-35 to Business Center Blvd. in Pearland, Texas.
GCE services included:
Analysis of existing and future water demand from the east side to west side of the City and the current supply deficiencies.
An alternative analysis to convey water from east side to west side of the City which would stabilize system pressures and enhance fire flows.
Design of the waterline with connections to the existing system at eight major intersections.
Design of jack and bore systems at three major stream crossings.
Evaluated various pipe materials including Ductile Iron (DI), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), and steel pipe.
Coordinated and obtained encroachment approvals from TxDOT, Monument Gas Pipeline Company, Kinder Morgan, and HPL Corporation.
Used alternative bidding for PVC and HDPE pipe in order to maximize cost savings.
Provided construction support services.
