Traffic Signal Design for T.C. Jester Boulevard

GC Engineering, Inc. (GCE) designed and prepared construction plans for five traffic signal installations on T.C. Jester Boulevard from Louetta Road to FM 2920 within Harris County Precinct 4, Texas.

GCE conducted a preliminary data collection effort on existing conditions including possible utility conflicts, visible pavement conditions, visible obstructions and other observable features within the project area. The data collection was utilized to prepare the traffic signal designs for five (5) intersections within the project corridor: T.C. Jester Boulevard & Winding Ridge Drive, T.C. Jester Boulevard & Center Court Drive, T.C. Jester Boulevard & Pinelakes Drive, T.C. Jester Boulevard & Alvin A. Klein Drive, T.C. Jester Boulevard & Springbrook Hollow Lane. The Traffic Signal design for each intersection included Paving Plans, Traffic Signal Layouts and Elevations, Pavement Marking Plans and Traffic Signal Pole Foundation Plans.

Further, GCE prepared plans for approximately 4.3-mile long Traffic Signal Interconnect system consisting of a fiber optic trunk cable along T.C. Jester Boulevard from Louetta Road to FM 2920. GCE also developed base plans for fiber optic lines using available Harris Galveston Area Council (HGAC) Aerial mapping for the project area supplemented by visible utilities, drainage features, paved areas, and obstructions not shown on the mapping inventoried through filed inspections.

This project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program. GCE prepared all plans following TxDOT requirements. GCE met the expedited schedule for the project with very high quality construction plans for the project.
